Use arrow keys on desktop or swipe on mobile to slide all tiles in one direction. When two tiles with the same number collide, they merge into a single tile worth double the value. A new tile appears after each move, so the board gradually fills up. The goal is to keep merging until you create the 2048 tile.
The key strategy is corner control. Pick one corner and keep your largest tile locked there. Build a descending chain along the edge, something like 512, 256, 128, 64 running along the bottom row. Feed smaller tiles into the chain from the opposite side. This keeps the board organized and opens up consistent merge paths.
When space gets tight, slow down and look for two or three move sequences that free up cells before committing. Preserving open space matters just as much as landing a big merge. Patience and pattern recognition will take you further than speed. With practice, tiles well beyond 2048 are within reach.
